Just a quick note
The internet cafe here is about to close, so I must hurry.
Today the rest of the group arrived, mostly 19-year-olds, who will be assisting with teaching English and other small projects around Chijnaya. I don't think I'll be roughing it nearly as much as I thought at first. There is water that comes to each house, although not in a faucet or anything. Also, I will probably have my own room in the house where I stay, or may room with another of the volunteers.
The weather is pretty good in Cusco. All I need at night is a fleece pullover and a scarf to stay comfortable. It will be a little colder in Chijnaya, but very manageable with the clothes I brought. I did buy two very soft and warm woven alpaca sweaters tonight for $8 and $12 in Cusco.
We went today to a place that overlooks all of Cusco and I got some great pictures, which I can{t upload right now, unfortunately. There is still no Internet in Chijnaya, but the people who install the satellite antenna is supposed to do it next week. Therefore, this may be my last entry for a week. Diego, my dad and Beth have an emergency contact email if anyone needs me urgently. Also, the professor in charge, Ralph Bolton, is going to email friends and family every couple of days with information about what we're doing. I'm giving him an email address that will hopefully post his emails on this blog, so check back in a couple of days.
I'm not feeling ill at all from food or altitude, and I'm really excited about my work. Thanks to everyone for reading and supporting me. I hope to catch up with you soon!

Thinking of you everyday and wondering what you are up to. This weekend I went to Asheville with some friends and compared our mountains to yours... no comparison! Looking forward to hearing from you as your work continues. xo Beth
