I'm leaving tomorrow!
I've got so many little things to do today. I don't have work because of the holiday, but I still need to wash some clothes and pack. I also have some grading to do so I can go into school tomorrow morning and finish that. Top it all off with having only one car (the Acura is in the shop with serious transmission problems!), so I am doubling as a taxi as well.
I'm too busy to be really excited, although I'm already beginning to miss home a little bit -- Diego, Josh, Dad, hot showers, a warm bed, warm weather, flowers, trees, movies on DVD, NPR, the John Stewart Show, fresh fruit and green veggies, and oxygen (I'll be at 13,000 feet).
On the other hand, I'm so thrilled to be teaching English, collecting stories and histories from people in town, generating ideas so they can begin to build tourism in their town, getting to know a new culture, seeing Machu Picchu, taking photos I can send back to y'all, bringing home a thousand cool stories about Peru, and writing a journal I'll always treasure.
Please drop me an email every once in awhile or leave a comment here on my blog (which will automatically send me an email). I may only get to the Internet once a week, but hearing from everyone back home will brighten my day. Just don't tell me about your night of grilling steaks, drinking fine wine and hanging out in the Jacuzzi. :-)
