I know I need vaccinations, but...ugh
Yesterday I met with Dr. Jim Adkins, a doctor who specializes in vaccinations and prescriptions for people traveling abroad. He's a great guy, and if you're ever traveling, he's worth seeing.
Even so, 14 hours after he vaccinated me for hepatitis A and typhoid, I felt like I was wearing lead clothes. I'm simply exhausted, although I don't have some of the nastier side effects. I guess I should count my blessings.
Passport Problems
UPS lost my passport several months ago when I sent it to Charleston for my name change (I just got around to doing it). The local franchise store that shipped it put the responsibility on the UPS corporate business, and corporate put the blame on...well, you know how it goes. It was nobody's problem but mine.
I didn't bother replacing my passport immediately because I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, right? Wrong. So I had to get a rush passport through a private agency. Next Tuesday, which is one week and $300 later, I should have my passport with my current name.
I'll Fly Away, Oh Glory
I did get my tickets, although I feel fleeced. I went through STA.com because they're supposed to give great rates to students and educators. Wrong again. Expedia would've beat their price by $250. It's my own fault for not shopping around (I know it's easy), but I was superstressed and pressed for time. Here's my flight info, if you decide you'd like to come along:
