Thanks for your warm wishes
Thanks to everyone who emailed to wish me well on my travels. Please keep checking the blog for photos and news.
I'm feeling a lot better today than yesterday. Those vaccinations really take it out of you!
I've also got several prescriptions to fill and take with me, especially for altitude sickness. That's the only thing I'm really worried about. Lima is at sea level, but Cusco is 10,000 feet. Since I'm flying in, there will be no time to acclimatize. I'll be in Cusco for a day, and then on to Chijnaya at 13,000 ft.!
I also need to do a little shopping and a lot of packing. I am taking a digital camera, so hopefully I'll be uploading plenty of pictures during my trip.

I went to Cuzco when I was about 10 - boy was it cold! My more recent experiences with high altitude - in the Rockies - were that the thin air caused me awful headaches. You might want to be sure to take your pain reliever of choice (ibuprofen, etc.)
Sounds like a wonderful experience, Kate! Looking forward to reading your blog and seeing your pictures. Can you add my home e-mail to your list? vered4@aol.com
Have a safe trip!
